load temps are high

before my swiftech mc462, my computer (athlon 900) would idle at upper 40's, under a load mid 50's. after, it idles at low 40's, a nice improvement, but load temps are the same. should this be this way? I thought both temps would drop, especially now that the weather is getting colder, but it appears they are not
