Load sharing over dual ethernet?

its a marketing gimmick more than anything. without proper hardware on both ends (client and switchport), your not going to be able to take advantage or even really need to in a soho environment.

boo....ok, thanks.

On my previous board, I forwarded ports to the two different controllers to try to tell programs which one to use, but I have no idea if it actually worked or not.

there are purposes for this, but it seems like you want to run 2 nics just for the sake of filling an empty nic port. not a valid reason imo.

Well it was mainly for keeping load down..Had torrents on one pipe and online gaming on another.

Do you have two separate 100mbit internet connections? If not, your not benefiting at all. You'll hit the peak of your internet before you ever hit the peak of ONE NIC, unless you have a 10mb NIC on a 15mb cable/fios connection? As stated above, having dual NIC's in a soho environment is pretty much useless unless one of them goes bad. If one does go bad, I'd be wondering why it went bad in first place. I only use dual nic's in my server's here at work for load balancing purposes (large cad & adobe files)
