Load balancer, or QoS for internet traffic only?

Does anyone know of a product, or could point me to some more information, that could load balance, or QoS a DSL line.

Basically, we have a 5 MB/s line that gets hammered sometimes, and it would be nice to throttle a user's connection. I feel that line's bandwidth is too small for our needs but it has to suffice for now.

I imagine this could be implemented on either a router, or switch, not sure.

Also I think it'd be advantageous to explore a caching server as well.

Any thoughts, comments, are greatly appreciated.

Load balancing is for more than one internet connection and comes at a high premium.

QoS will only help if you have certain connections that need priority over other types of connections. For example, if you have a VOIP solution, that would take priority over web browsing.

Caching servers would be helpful if your users are going to the same sites all the times. Squid is the de facto open source solution.

Any of these sound like what you need?
