Load Average, What Do The Numbers Mean/Stand For?

I upgraded my WRT54G to use the Alchemy firmware and I noticed that on the status page it has uptime. My router says:
19:30:49 up 21:42, load average: 0.14, 0.04, 0.01

I'm assuming:
19:30:49 = current time
up 21:42 = how long router has been running before a hard reboot

Is that correct?
As for the load average, I have not idea what the 3 number in the load average mean. Can someone explain what each means.
