I just hope Vista can run existing XP games without compatibility issues.

I can't tell from that picture, but this sure as hell better mean all PC games come in standardized DVD cases. I would be so damn happy. Right now it is a mix between some vendors using real nice DVD cases and some using real crappy boxes with little crappy sleeves for each dvd/cd. Argh

Yeah fierydemise :)

PC player will totally own the console owner and making sure the know the power of Keyboard and mouse. IF for some reason a PC player gets owned by a console player , then we can all call him a noob :)

That brings up another question, do PC gamers really want to play against console gamers and vis versa? It'll probably get real old real fast, keyboard and mouse give us an incredibly unfair advantage and there probably won't be much of a challenge in smashing console gamers. For the first few months it'll be great but after the console gamers recognize the superiority of PC gamers they arn't going to want to play anymore and games are going to be console only or PC only games because beating console gamers ins't that much of a challenge.

I think some of you are underestimating how good a controller is in some games. (FPS and RTS aren't the only genres) Not that I think many developers would choose to pool the two together anyway. To merge the two they'd have to give up the advantages each system has.

Let's make one thing clear... there is nothing superior about PC gamers, it's the advantage of the K&M combo over the controller... and that's only for certain gneres (FPS mainly). And if a PC-only gamer went on Live and tried to play Halo with a controller they would look like just as much of a noob compared to the gamers who have been using controllers on a regular basis.

I wouldn't be so sure about racing. I'd bet that many people out there could beat a K&M combo with a controller in a racing game... things like analog gas and analog braking are going to be advantages in a racing game.

amm , Sony and Nintendo don't provide the Infrastructure that make it easy to play cooperative.
Sony playstation 3 online plan is a myth and has never seen in action :(
Nintendo Rev online plan is pain in the ass with its userfriend code bullshit for children protection or what ever they were thinking.

XBOX 360 has the online decent online service that will enable developer to do this pretty easy.

I was actually talking about games and series that are on both PC and Xbox, and wasn't comparing them to other consoles. An example would be Halo since when the converted it to PC they wouldn't allow the PC version to have coop play since they wanted that to be Xbox exclusive. Another example is Doom 3, coop is an Xbox exclusive. The Battlefield series dropped coop play for the PC, but their Xbox games have it.

I suck at first person shooters on consoles, but can hold my own with a keyboard and mouse.

However, I woulnd't be insulting the console kids too much because you'd be shocked at how good they are. I also spent a good deal of time playing Chrome Hounds on the 360 the past week, and that's one game that's easier to manage with a console controller than KB&M.

Microsoft has done a helluva job with Xbox live community, and it's about time it extends it to the PC.

Sounds like more bland consolized half assed ports are on the way for the PC. The thrill of tearing up some console players isn't worth all the games losing the advantages the PC can offer them.
