All these are quoted from CNN this morning.

"Gore is in Washington, where aides say they expect him to address the nation, possibly on Monday evening. He is expected to touch on several themes, including the need to count every vote , his obligation to the 50 million people who voted for him and the importance of respecting court rulings"

Count every vote huh??

Then it goes on to this.

" On top of that, Democrats argue that 174 overseas absentee ballots that went to Bush should have been disqualified. When the 372 uncounted Gore votes are added to his certified total and the 174 Bush votes are subtracted from his final count, Gore comes out ahead by nine votes"

Yeah those 9 votes that your party stole.

He is so such a POS. A POS but a funny POS. I hope he knows that everyone is laughing at him.

That is his problem, he is such a complete dumbass that he doesn't know it. The scary thing is that he thinks he is right.

I don't think I ever said he was a socialist. Pretty close but I won't say it. Of course I voted for Harry Brown.

He didn't have a chance in '04 anyway. Hillary! is gonna run and Gore knew that if he couldn't weasel his way in this time, he's toast. He failed in '88 and only had a chance this year because of being Clinton's veep.

Bush has a job if he'd lost, Gore doesn't have anything else to do. His anti-corporate attitude isn't going to get him and cushy Board of Directors gigs. There's nothing else for him politically to do. All he has is maybe running a think tank or something. That's why he's trying anything he can get away with to get elected.

No, the House and the Senate are almost Republican. Everybody who has a job in this country should thank God they were there during this administration.

Really Russ? I had no idea God was a Republican. Of course, the Religious Right has long suspected this, along with Charlton Heston. I tend not to listen to either.

As usual Russ is correct. As soon as the Republicans took control of the congress Clinton/Bore started usurping Republican issues and positions on issues. They weren't stupid they knew what they had to do to survive. Actually it was a brilliant tactic. Act enough like a Republican to get some of the moderate support to cross over from the republicans but stay true to some of the more liberal democratic issues so that you don't lose the democratic base that you already have. Fortunately this also forced them to curtail many of the more liberal initiatives like welfare and to cooperate on balancing the budget which actually worked out pretty well for them since it basically fueled the current economic expansion.

GOD IS A REPUBLICAN AND SANTA CLAUS IS A DEMOCRAT
by P. J. O'Rourke
  • God is an elderly or, at any rate, middle-aged male , a stern fellow, patriarchal rather than paternal and a great believer in rules and regulations. He holds men strictly accountable for their actions. He has little apparent concern for the material well-being of the disadvantaged. He is politically connected, socially powerful and holds the mortgage on literally everything in the world. God is difficult. God is unsentimental. It is very hard to get into God's heavenly country club.

Santa Claus is another matter. He's cute. He's non threatening. He's always cheerful. And he loves animals. He may know who's been naughty and who's been nice, but he never does anything about it. He gives everyone everything they want without thought of a quid pro quo. He works hard for charities, and he's famously generous to the poor.

Santa Claus is preferable to God in every way but one: There is no such thing as Santa Claus.

chansen,

Feel free to thank whatever God you choose. The point is, that if the Republicans had not been there to keep Slick Willy and Goresky in check, we would be an emerging socialist nation.

One more reason we need a split government. The republicans don't get to push their morals on everyone else, and democrats don't get to waste our money on social programs.

I don't agree with the far right either, but I don't see how the Dems have been moving much in the other direction. They haven't been striving for legalized drugs or prostitution. Two victimess crimes I'd like to see abolished.

On the other hand, the GOP won't be costing you tax dollars for the sake of failed social programs. It's not really a choice between GOP morals and Democrat spending. The Dems aren't putting forward much of a liberal agenda anyway!

Come now, Ornery. You don't really want to open that topic, do you?

And Russ, with all the dastardly things the Republicans have accused the current administration of, including turning the White House into a five-star hotel and accepting inappropriate campaign contributions from industry, cries of impending Socialism remain an increasingly humourous and pathetic scare tactic.

Excuse me, it's time I left the forums to vote. No, not for Jean or Alexa (nor Stockwell for that matter).

Regards,
Craig

Ah yes, the Democrat mantra: In Santa Claus We Trust :)

But anyway, God is a Republican, unquestionably! :p

OK, OK, all kidding aside. I'm more afraid of having my money confiscated and wasted by the Dems than having laws passed that allow kids to pray in school. That doesn't cost anyone a dime! A GOP White House and Congress will be far less damaging, tax-wise, than the other way around.

Hmmm, what's to be scared of? Marriage tax penalty removed? God forbid! Social Security privatization? Oh noooo! School vouchers? Run for the hills! :Q

Please. So you don't give the Clinton/Gore administration any credit whatsoever for the best economy we've ever had?

Yes, give credit where credit is due I always say. After Hilly and Billy played their Democrat/Socialist hand back in 1993, it got slapped hard by the GOP... hee hee :)

Thanks to that move, we got the first GOP controlled Congress in 40 years. We've had Dem White House and Congress, GOP White House and Dem Congress, but never a GOP lead Congress in 40 years! You do the math. Oh, and thanks loads Hill and Bill :p
