LMAO! Horace Grant Signs Two Year Deal with Lakers

Lakers Sign Grant

Anyone else get the feeling Buss is just trying to save cash and get players who are already covered by social security? Grant was great in 2001, a tremendous role player. I'd like to believe he'll be just as good this year, but after just turning 38 does anyone really think he's got enough left? As a backup for Shaq 10 minutes a game Grant could be quite good, but I don't think he'll go much more than that. Questionable move.

They signed Malone and he's 40. Granted, Grant prolly isn't in as good a shape as Malone, but he could certainly play an important role.

he still plays ?

He only played 5 games with Orlando before being released last December, but played with Orlando the year before and the Lakers the year before that.

They probably signed Grant to replace Mark Madsen, who signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Timberwolves for two years (for some unknown amount).

I'm not sure who to pick between the two. Horace Grant with the experience and more offensive skills? Or Mark Madsen with his energy, hustle and youth?

Yeah that was confirmed in the LA times today... Madsen signed for the Twolves...

and u are forgetting that we will also miss out on Madsens mad dance skills when the lakers win

Grant: This is a great opportunity for me to play on a great team... and to get more rings! I'm a greedy bastard!

Uh maybe they want him as a player coach. I can't see him making much of a contribution this year. I would think it would be smarter to sign youngers players as depth, so they can sit the bench and learn from the vets. But it looks like the Lakers are saying they want to win a couple of championships and then rebuild.

does this make the Lakers have the oldest team (and starting 5) by avg. in the NBA right now? cuz as good as they all are, i have a feeling that this might be a bad idea by the end of the regular season, esp. with kobe's current legal status under question.

well if you were Orlando ... which Grant do you want for the upcoming year? Horace Grant or $Grant$ Hill . Seems to me the Lakers will be prefectly fine with this role-player.

i believe grant hill will again sit out next year. it boggles the mind how the guy and vince carter keeps on getting popular votes for the all-star and such without barely stepping on the court.

as for signing grant, i rather take the old guy over madsen. madsen is a friggin' joke. this is the nba. you sign players that will contribute, not because you feel sorry for his ass.
