one of them will die and then maybe they'll figure out that standing in a dangerous storm doesn't really add to any kind of coverage they are doing.

Yea I just saw that too. The guy (Steve Harrigan) almost got impaled by a flying gutter. Pretty crazy stuff.

Um.... yes it does. I want to see what it looks like in the middle of a hurricane of that magnitude.

I think it adds to the coverage. Might not be the smartest thing to do though. But I guess if they can have war correspondents, they can have hurricane reporters too.

Obviously that guy never saw The Day After Tomorrow, did he?? ;)

Maybe now New Orleans will build that 3rd flood wall they've talked about......after they're 7 feet under water! :(

This just in Bob... geologists report that this volcanoe is now at its peak of lava flow... behind me you will see a large river of molten rock heading this way. This is the worst eruption here in the United States since Mount St. Helens in Oregon. As you can see, this lava is extremely dangerous, as anything it touches bursts into flames. Now that the lava has completely enveloped my feet, I would like to report that being submered in lava is very painful. Look - are you getting this? - see how my flesh is melting away, and I'm now sunk down at knee level. I only have about 1 minute left of my life before my blood begins to boil, so I just want you kids watching to remember, leave this to the professionals. Don't try this at home.

how does it add to the coverage? what can a dude standing in a storm give you? they can film from a hotel lobby if you want to see the storm, no reason to stand out in the middle of it.

edit: you don't really need to be standing in the middle of a battle zone either, but that's different. you are travelling around with other people and getting reactions and whatnot from the war which change daily. a storm is a storm, there's wind and rain and CARS FLYING DOWN THE ROAD AT YOU. it's not like the storm is going to start talking to the "reporter".

QFT. A small tid bit....This morning on Good Morning America they mentioned that the number of reporters that have died in Iraq is now higher than during Vietnam.
