LM7.2: kde2, dhcp issues

Okay, first the dhcp thing:
I have an ethernet connection in my dorm room and my pcmcia card (IBM 10/100...a Xircom 10/100 cardbus, using tulip_cb), can't resolve an address from dhcp on bootup...I have to open linuxconf, close it and do a '/etc/rc5.d/S10 network reload', log out and then back in...all to get an IP.

kde2 thing: I can't get sound to work when I'm not logged in as root. When I'm not root I get 'couldn't open audio' and kmixer is blank. Sound only works when I'm root.

the system is an IBM Thinkpad A21e with LM7.2 with kde2.0.1 and most other updates.

plz help

Try moving /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S??pcmcia to a lower number. You may just need to initialize the pcmcia bus earlier in order for the network to work.
