LJ1200 prints every time I boot the pc

After a clean install of win2k...i wanted to install my printers...now everytime I boot or reboot, my lj 1200 prints a win2k print test page. i tried deleting it and reinstalling it...didn't help...any help appreciated!!

Is this on a parallel or USB connection? Either way, have you tried a different cable? If it's parallel, you could try changing the mode (ECP, EPP, etc.) in your BIOS and see if that helps.

it's usb...tried different ports...i found that if i disabled print spooling it went away...but why is that? that's not right...i shouldn't have to do that...it used the spooler before

Man, that's a toughy. Technet is coming up blank. You could try digging around in HP's site.

As a workaround, try setting that printer to work offline and just leave it. Then install an identical printer and see if it works ok.

hehe have you tried actually printing a test page to see if it "toggles off"??

I have a very similar problem with an HP Deskjet 820 -- every time I boot the machine up or just reboot winders (XP SP1), it spits out one page with a single character on it in a corner, the character varies. Strange.... it works fine after that, but it's irritating.

it detects the printer ,etc...it's only if you print something out while the computer is on...the spooler never clears...when it boots, it will print everything you printed earlier...so far i had it print 5 pages of different things on boot up.

i'm wondering if when the install was done, something got corrupted in windows...
