I don't know which thread to post in. They both have the same time stamp. Is there a precedent? Never the less, she was a babe. RIP

She was a good actress but even more impressive as a humanitarian and leader in the fight against discrimination towards those with HIV/AIDS. She eventually schooled that pathetic excuse of a President [who shamefully avoided even mentioning AIDS until the very end of his presidency, allowing hate & fear to grow during nearly 2 terms in office].

RIP Elizabeth

Damn indeed. 8 marriages, 7 husbands.

Hell of an icon though.

The Vanity Fair article about Richard Burton's last letter A Love Too Big To Last to her was great reading. Never saw a single thing she was in, nor Richard Burton. She's intimidatingly gorgeous.

I loved her movie National Velvet when I was a little girl - it was on TV a lot. She was 12 when she made it. Google her picture from then, she was amazing from the beginning.

RIP.

Great article, great read, thanks, yllus!

I wonder how well any of us would bear up under the nearly unlimited opportunities to indulge our "inner child", to put it mildly, combined with the unceasing public spotlight that modern celebrity brings as its price.

Though she was ungodly gorgeous, I was never a big fan of Elizabeth Taylor until her performance with Burton in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, where she put aside her Hollywood glamor image -- even gaining weight for the role -- and truly delivered.

One hell of a movie, as was Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Hollywood royalty. A grand dame and probably the most breath-taking, drop-dead gorgeous actress ever. Those eyes... A most splendid, magnificent, divine colour. Young people nowadays have no idea the star power she had. When she would disembark a plane in the 50s and 60s, it was an EVENT.
