Living in a condo vs an apartment

i live in a rented condo. but i live in los angeles, where a 2 bed in my unit just went for over half a million, and one a few streets over wants over 600k asking price.

Association fees plus insurance can be about $200/mo. Personal maintenance depends on the condition of appliances and interior of the condo. Otherwise, the association takes care of the external. Property tax is roughly 4 to 5K annually.

True, but real estate prices are so insanely over-inflated in some regions that sometimes it makes better financial sense to rent than to own.

Apples and oranges. If you have good credit and the means, there is absolutely no reason why you should rent an orange, when you can own an apple.
