Live Platinum 5.1?

Is it compatible with current EAX games? Will I need a whole new speaker set? Not that I am going to but it mind you. But I was just wondering if the effects would be the same as 4 speakers?

The Live drivers have an option for selecting between headphones/2/4 speakers etc. So will the 5.1 have an option for 2/4/5?

Last thing is it out yet or has CL just put out a press release?

Its the same damn hardware with new software... if you read the specs... its the same chipset... ITS NO DIFFERENT than the original Platinum! SOFTWARE SOFTWARE................

Is it just a spare connector at the back? What about the Live Drive II?

5.1 will be Live! Surround, it's just now you have an Analog connection for the center and sub. On the old Live! you had to use S/P DIF or Mini-DIN digital, now you can use analog.

But the chipset is the exact same as in my SBLive! Value Rev. 1.
It has different connectors, but the inherent capabilities are exactly the same.

Here's hoping nVidia comes up with something good in the 3D audio, because without competition creative would go no where, don't get me wrong, the SBLive! is a great card, but we need competition to drive them to be better.

Remember when creative came out with their first PCI sound card? Funny they bought Ensoniq's PCI card about a week after diamond announced the Original Monster Sound PCI. Creative can make really good stuff, but they need the competiion before they will.

they included the optical input/output... I think that is the only hardware changes... if you have the original you can buy this... can't remember where? Anyway, it doesn't look like a big improvement but I could be wrong!
