I live in NW Indiana (about 40min from downtown Chicago). The wife and are looking for some 3-day weekend getaway ideas. Probably no loger than a 3-4 hour drive, so Illinois, Indiana and southern Michigan and Wisconsin are OK. Where ever we end up must be able to accomodate and amuse a 1 1/2 year old. Anyone have any ideas?

Camping in St. Joe, MI or even closer you could camp out at Indiana Dunes.

HA! I'd go for that, I don't think the wife would though.

We live near Chicago and are looking for something else to do (not in the city).

The less crowded, the better.

Brookfield or Licoln Park Zoo, Childrens Museum on Navy Pier, Santa's Village in Dundee (has a water park next to it but the water park in Rockford is alot better), Chain O lakes state park in Lake County for camping, boating and fishing. I've got a bunch of kids and those are a few of our outings we've done in the area. I haven't been to Great America for several years but probably not too much fun for a 2 year old. We constantly try to come up with new ideas so if you happen to find something cool in the area for little kids let us know how it works out!!
