Live Game of poker.... wth?

If you don't get a good hand all night, and everyone calls every single one of your bluffs, and wins with a highcard, or high pair, how the heck do you beat them?


Tonight I got a few decent hands, and they were outmatched. I tried bluffing a few times, substantially, and they kept calling with jack squat in their hand (which happend to be slightly higher than my jack squat).

I bluffed a few other times, with a low pair, and they would have one higher ranking pair... or similar.


Lol, this was a joke 🙂.



$7 down for the night. $5 buy in, and i tried my luck $2 more.

Im pretty patient 🙂 I read most peoples hands the whole night, and was pretty happy with that. Just had to take it in the stomach tonight 🙂


What sucked was reading that they had nothing, and then betting them, and having their nothing beat mine 😉

My friend and I have come the conclusion (in a joking way) that you can't bluff out an Asian. They will call you no matter what until the river card. We've observed this at card clubs and at friendly poker games. When playing Asians, all skill is thrown out the window and you rely on luck. 😛

I beg to differ. Let me play with a few calling stations and I guarantee I'll have the biggest stack in the long run. Sure there's a bigger variance when you're playing with them over the short term, but over the long term, there's nothing like playing with some loose-passive players.

Yeah, of course in the long run they are going to lose. that's why I said poker is a game of patience. You wait till the right time and then go in. With our usually short $5 pot tourny style games, half the time I just throw out my intuition and play on a hunch. 🙂

You're not playing for high enough stakes. If the buy in is $5 and you got hammered all night to only lose $7 you're quite obviously playing for chicken scratch. Playing for dimes is like using fake money, YOU CAN'T BLUFF!!. The concept of bluffing is contingent upon betting enough that the other guy has to worry about losing it. Tossing in a few cents to call doesn't scare anyone. Without that fear of losing it's not real poker.
