Live Fire Exercise Ft Hood, Tx

I was able to attend a live fire exercise today at Ft Hood in Kileen, Tx...Some crews were getting their NET (new equipment training) on the new 777 howitzer...also saw the HIPAR rocket launcher in action...

Good pics. Of course in real life, or should I say war, those soldiers would be scared shitless as returning enemy fire was bursting over and all around them. They wouldn't be quite as organized as in the pics, but I have no doubt they would continue firing until they took out the enemy arty or they were taken out.

Been there, done that.

I live in killeen, and I didn't know about this. Dammit.

I saw them setting some equipment up about a half mile away from my house, but I didn't see them fire anything.


Then again, I'm kinda desensitized to the sound of artillery fire and rockets.

I got heat stroke at Ft Hood in the 80s. Good thing I was young because I wouldn't ask for help and treated myself.
