Live! Crackling from Line in..

Hello, I just installed a Live! back into my system and when I use the line in I get all kinds of noise. Mostly loud crackling noises.. I am using the newest drivers from Creatives site and am running XP on a Dell system so it isn't a Via driver issue.. Anyone know how to correct this??
