You can also get the Fable II Pub games for free if you pre-order Fable II. link

For those of you eagerly awaiting the release of Fable II (including me) Lionhead and Microsoft announced today that those who pre-order the game (from participating retailers) will receive a link to download free versions of the Fable II Pub Games when they are released in August.

Use these games to earn gold for your upcoming adventure or gamble it all away - the choice is yours. Included in the download will be Keystone, Spinnerbox and Fortune's Tower. These three games play on the casino games Rhoulette + Craps, slot machines and press your luck.

If you do not pre-order, you will still be able to get the Pub Games for 800 Microsoft Points.

Feels like we've been waiting forever on this and Castle Crashers coming up in a couple of weeks. Don't forget that downloading XBL games this month enters you into a contest.

Isn't a Fable 2 pre-order only $5 at GameStop, not to mention refundable? I'm having trouble seeing why they priced the gambling games at $10.

I was thinking the same thing.

Because they'd rather you preorder it.

Sweet. I've been waiting for BC. I didn't realize the release was so soon. D/Ling now!

I believe this is just a 2D XBL game and there is a full 3D game coming as well that (I believe) is cross platform. Can anyone back me up on this or did I just make that up?

Bionic Commando is fucking awesome. I'm a big fan of the NES game so this is right up my alley for sure. Great fan service by Capcom and Grin. The 8 bit style remixed music is great too. That Eurogamer review should be disqualified for complaining about no jumping. Are they stupid?? Bionic Commando never had jumping. In any case if you are a fan of the NES classic then you will LOVE this remake.

You are correct. Rearmed is a remake of the classic game. A new 3rd-Person Shooter version of Bionic Commando is coming as well.

I'm so friggin stoked for Bionic Commando, I'm hopping on the Xbox as soon as I get home from work.

As for the Fable pub games, can you get them free at any point prior to release as long as you preorder or is there a time limit on that offer?

Uh, yeah. I know BC:R is the 2D remake. I've been waiting on it since it was announced.

Anyone playing this? All the talk and a few threads over the past several months, but not much discussion about the game since the release.

I only was able to play it for a few minutes last night. I did the Tutorial and played the first level for about 2 minutes. I haven't even purchased it yet, but I definitely will. Even though I only got a taste, it was impressive. The music, sound, graphics, and animation is great. The Trial even had some funny dialogue about it being the trial and not the full game when I went to the communications room.

I will definitely be playing BC:R this weekend.

I played the trial demo last night and....hated it. Not because the game was bad (I love it) but because I can't buy it right now. I'll be buying it later though.

The graphics were great, the cheesy humor was there, and all the mechanics that made it a great game on the NES were there as well.

yeah the first computer room you go into and talk to base is funny as hell.

I never played the original BC and didn't get much out of the demo.

I bought GW2 and Braid on release day but the purchases end there for now.

Castle Crashers is looking like it will be the must-have of the must-haves coming out soon. Comes out in two weeks. 🙂

Anyone have thoughts on Fable 2 games yet? I actually rented and started playing the first Fable last night (don't know how long it'll last though, the disk is SO scratched). Fun so far although I've only been at it for about 30 mins.

I only had time to try BC:R last night. Want to give the Pub Games a whirl tonight.

its kinda interesting. But I wouldn't pay 10 bucks for them. They are your run of the mill casino type games.

I like Fortune's tower the most, its simple, mixes in deal no deal with the offers but I like the part where it lets you see what you might have had if you didn't take the deal.

Spinnerbox is just slot machines. If you're really bored then yeah.

heh

Out of the three pub games, which is your favorite? I?ve run into a very unique situation. I left the game on in my office at home, and I came back in an hour later to find my wife playing the games. Now, she?s not a gamer unless I put the controller in her hand, so this was a bit surprising. What happened next was even more surprising.

Here is how the conversation went:

Me: Hi..what are you doing?
Her (staring at the screen playing Keystone): (no answer)

Me: Hello? What are you doing?
Her: Playing

Me: Why?
Her: I saw these games, and they looked interesting. I?m not very good at them though.

At this point, I am a bit panicked, since the gold you win (or lose) will transfer to Fable II

Me (getting nervous): Umm?are you winning?
Her: No. I think I?ve lost about 3000. 3000 things.

Me (getting more nervous): What do you mean things?

Her: I don?t know?is this Dollars? Cents? Euros?
Me: It?s Gold.
Her: Ok. Gold. (Switches to Fortune?s Tower)

At this point I am trying to get the controller away from her.

Me: Why don?t you let me play?
Her: I like these games. I?m not very good?.but they?re fun.

Me: Well, we have a little problem.
Her: What?

Me: Well, you know that game you liked on the original Xbox? Fable?
Her: The one where you could kick chickens? This music reminds me of that one.

Me: Well this game should remind you of that one since these games are from the sequel coming out this fall called Fable II.
Her (now 3400 in debt): Are you going to play it?

Me : Well. That?s where we have a problem.
Her: What?s the problem?

Me: Well, any gold you win in the game you can transfer to the game when it comes out.
Her: Cool. (pause)

Her: Wait. (now playing Spinnerbox) What about the gold you lose?
Me: You mean the gold YOU lost?

Her: Yea. the gold we lost?
Me: No?you lost.

Her: Yea, the gold we lost.
Me (sigh): Yes, the gold you lost. That?s where we have the problem. I?ll now start Fable II in debt. As in poor. As in owing money.

Her (turning to look at me for the first time since I walked in): Wow. That sucks. (she put the controller down and walks out of the room)
Her: I hope you can pay off that debt before the game comes out. I am going out, see you later.

All totaled, as I post this, I am about 3650 in debt. I have some work to before the game releases in October. So if you have any Pub Game tips feel free to post them in the comments.

Oh, and don?t leave your Gamertag signed in to Xbox LIVE playing the Fable Pub Games, as you may suffer the same fate I have.
