Must...get...live...points!

*edit* I was weak...I went to Amazon and bought 1600 points. Don't tell my wife...

anyone get this yet?

curious how the online portion of this is, as far as lag goes, lobbies, matchmaking, ranking, etc.

I am weak also. I might spring for this, even though I have the original PS2 game that was probably played less than 10 times because I was a PC gamer back then. I'm on some weird game buying spree.

I probably won't get a chance to play until this weekend but Jeff Gerstmann of GiantBomb tweets

In case you were wondering the online in MvC2 seems totally fine. Unfortunately this leaves me with no excuse for the thrashings I'm taking.

I thought all the Live stuff was done inhouse (at Microsoft), so the quality should be the same, right? At least that's what MS was doing for the original Live service. This was better than individual companies hosting their own servers, which is what PS2 did.

The foundation is there but the execution is and always has been the responsibility of the game's developers.

It still requires quality coding on the developer's end to keep lag as low as possible. MS just provides the servers and the tools to make it easier.

When Street Fighter II Hyperfighting was released on Live, the lag was pretty bad. Actually, there were a few Arcade games released at the beginning of the 360's lifespan that had pretty bad lag. Even simplistic games like Frogger.

The devs have gotten much better now and I can't remember an Arcade title in recent memory that had bad lag (BF1943 excluded because that was a server population issue).

I can't seem to join a ranked match. There doesn't seem to be any available, and when I create a game, no one ever joins.

Player matches work well for the most part.

Is the trail the same stupid 2P only deal that was released on the ps3? Man, I am seriously considering this right now!

Well, I bought the XBL points, I downloaded the demo...and I didn't buy. Don't get me wrong, I probably will eventually, but it just donned on me that I have several games that I "need" to play at the moment and adding another will just complicate things too much!

BF1943 (really haven't sunk much time into this still)
Gears of War 2 (just re-purchased)
Diablo 2 (restarting it as well)
Call of Duty 4 (trying to get a higher rank in multiplayer)

I bought it last night for my son and I to play....after he had gone to bed. I don't even know if he realizes I bought it since I forgot to tell him before I left for work this morning.

I played a couple of rounds of single-player last night and realized I've completely forgotten how to play MvC2. I'm going to have to go through the training and read up on some FAQs to refresh my memory.

Maybe I'll buy it and we can train together, I used to love the game but I was never fantastic.

going to get this when i get home today. I wasn't very good at this game either. Just sort of button mashed on Dreamcast.

i grabbed the trial last night and decided to hold off. i didn't really like the engine in this game that much (been ages since i played this). i may end up getting it though we'll see.

it's funny though cause if it was $10 i woulda bought it w/out even trying it, but at $15 i am hesitant.

as little as $5 is it's funny that it is a make or break it decision between a $10 and $15 game for me.

I'm sort of the same way. Were it 800 points I'd have spend half the night playing it.

I'll buy this but will NEVER play it through Live against somenoe I don't know cus I know I will get my ass raped like I get my ass kicked in SF4. MvC2 has too many hardcore people.

I dunno about that. I'm not very good and both ranked matches I played I won pretty easily. First game all 3 of my characters were still alive when I won, next game two of 'em were alive.

I retract my previous statement...

After winning those two matches I later on jumped back on to ranked multiplayer where I proceeded to have my arse handed to me about 7 games in a row. Wow those guys are good...

I am the same way. When this was on the Playstation 2, I was damn good!!! Now I'm like what happened to the major combos I used to pull off?? Have I lost my skills? Well it's back to basic training....still glad I got the game though.
