yo joe!

Hasbro Inc. has hired Hollywood heavyweight Lorenzo di Bonaventura to shop its classic G.I. JOE franchise around to studios as a live-action feature film, reported DAILY VARIETY. Di Bonaventura track record as an exec at Warner Bros. includes such franchises as THE MATRIX, HARRY POTTER, SCOOBY-DOO and BATMAN. Screenwriter Michael Gordon (LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O?BRIEN) has already been attached to pen a script.

Di Bonaventura, who had passed on the project previously, said, "Hasbro reached out to me, and they understand that you have to allow a cinematic experience and not put constraints on what could be done with the character. We've worked for three months to create a narrative structure that works."

That might actually work...everyone who was a fan of the cartoon and action figures in the 80's would probably be ready for a live action representation...

Yes, but most movies that have tried this have kind of sucked. I hope at least somebody dies in this one. it will PROBABLY end up being a rental.

Awesome, I've been waiting for something like this for years. Hopefully it doesn't suck

I know...but I can hope, can't I? Just think of how badass a live action Cobra Commander, and Destro, would be...:p

They have been doing CGI action for thier commercials for a little while. When i first saw them i thought OMG GI JOE THE MOVIE.

I think they should do it al la Final Fantasy: Spirits Within except with a good story.

Am i the only one who thinks live action stuff like this is goofy and stuipid looking? Think Mr. Freeze, M. Bison, insert other cartoon character turned live action star.

I'll be satisfied as long as it doesn't suck. It doesn't need to blow me away or anything, just not suck. :)

So which generation of GI Joe would this movie be about? I caught an episode of the new CGI ones and the nostalgia just doesn't carry over from the 80s-90s cartoon. :(

Man, those good ole' days when my cousins and I spent all night playing with our GI Joes...

I would watch for the nostalgic value.

I heard that Hasbro did the same thing with Transformers. THAT will be interesting.

If they shoot slow blue and red lazers that never hit anyone it's gonna suck.

COOOO-BRRRAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

LOL, I can already see the special FX in this one getting way out of hand. Like, CGI for Destro's face and stuff.

I wonder if they'll use "real" guns or red and blue "lazors" like in the cartoon.

All the 80's cartoons are making a comeback because the kids who watched the shows back then are now old enough to buy that stuff themselves.
He-Man is back along with Transformers, GI Joe, Thundercats, et al
Hell, even Battle of the Planets is coming back.
