Actually, I hate 989 studios more than EA when it comes to console gaming, is 2k6 the 989 game?

2k6. it isnt even close. not that they can make a college game anymore, but nba 2k5 was much better than the ncaa 2k5 game.

I've tried to like the 2k series gameplay but I simply can't get into it. I guess having started early on Live (on the Sega Genesis, wo0t!) I'm used to its quirks. The thing is, despite all the flaws of Live, I still enjoy playing it.

I'm not settled on PC vs. 360, though. With Live 2005 which I got for Xbox I really missed being able to get custom rosters online. Is it too much to ask to be able to get unofficial rosters on 360?

yupperz...and its $50 and 2k6 is 40 bucks.

Now the major differnce is that live is more of an arcade game and 2k6 is more of a simulation. So that might be the difference for most people. I would love to play an accurate simulation because as a basketball fan, having something that realistic would be awesome but i played 2k4 and was just not impressed...live on the other hand is loads of fun to play with friends...it in no way resembles an accurate game(i pretty much always get double digit blocks and the computer gets atleast 20 steals) but its just fun to play.

I wasn't impressed with 2K6 last night. Played 2 games and never could get into it. I guess I just prefer the gameplay of LIVE and the playmaker stick. I'll fully admit LIVE is much more arcade-ish, but I find that more fun.

Live '95 was the first in the series that I loved. However, ever since Easports started to release the 2k series I play that stuff. I wasn't very happy with 2k5 but will still pick up 2k6. The last few Live games I have not enjoyed playing.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
