These videos are making the rounds on the gaming sites. Both are amazing in their own way:

Little Big Computer

To Zanarkand

And this is just the beta. I can't wait to see what people come up with when the game is available to everyone.

Those are probably two of the crappiest "levels" I've seen of that game, definitely not the best to showcase it IMO. TheyThis is probably one of my favorites that I've seen thus far that was completely made from scratch from within the game:

Well, those two weren't meant to be levels exactly, but did you watch long enough to understand what was happening in each of those? In the Little Big Computer video the guy created a working mechanical calculator using the level editor. All those wires, switches, and pistons you see at the end of the video are what make it work. It's an amazing accomplishment even if it's not something you "play".

In the second video the guy is "playing" the music by dragging that box. Somehow the creator set up a whole series of switches that play a single note as the box is dragged past. Again, it's a rather amazing piece of work.

Ahhhhhh. On the first one, I watched the entire thing. I just assumed the math was something coded into the game, so I didn't quite get why that was "awesome". When the character was floating upwards and showing all that stuff above, I didn't know what it was....I just figured someone had way too much time on their hands and constructed some weird contraption that I didn't understand.

On the second one, I watched the first 20 seconds or so, then fast forwarded a bit, and a bit more, and was trying to figure out what was cool about pushing the box. I didn't really pay attention to the sound. So that's why I wasn't impressed.

Since I completely misinterpreted both videos, I'll go back and watch them again tonight.

This is a quote from Kotaku about the level, "The level is said to use 610 magnetic switches, 500 wires, and 430 pistons."

Holy crap, that's a lot of time and effort.

I've only recently started considering getting LBP, but I think at this point I'm definitely going to buy it.

i have played the beta however I got a japanese beta.

i am not really liking it much, but i think it may be because all of the voices are japanese and I think the voices are kind of a tutorial. the text is in english though.

also i must say. as much as they hyped the physics in this game, the physics are nothing special at all, and i actually think they are fairly poor and have a "floaty" feeling to them. ropes don't swing like you would think, and when you jump you float too. also the control between the different planes isn't done very well imo.

i think i have to give it more time though before i make my decision on a purchase or not. before i played the beta, i was definitely going to buy it. now i'm not sure.

I wasn't sure at first when I got the beta, but the more I played with the user created levels the more I started to like the game. Then last night I played online in LBP for the first time with a group of friends and loved it. I had a blast going from level to level with the group. The only downside was there was a fair amount of lag... but oodly enough it was only really bad in the home pod. It wasn't too bad in the actual levels.

So its like a mixture of Incredible Machine and Super Mario Brothers?
I love the art style, very cool looking game. I can't tell what the hell is going on or what you're supposed to do, but it looks nice at least.

Hey guys, usatoday.com was giving out some LBP codes earlier today and I got a few of them.

I have a total of 5 right now and may get 8 (I entered 4 email addresses, and so far 2 email addresses received 2 codes but I only expected 1 per email, and 1 other email has gotten 1, and the other email hasn't gotten any).

So right now I have 3 that I'd be willing to give up.

If you want one send me a PM, it's first come first serve.

EDIT:

i won't send them out till I try it out tonight though and am downloading one for myself, because one guy I know tried one of his codes and it said it had alrady been used the max # of times, and i don't wanna screw myself :p.

It's a shame my PS3 is out for service when I got the LBP beta codes. Oh well, I pre-ordered the game, I'll just wait for the full version.

I just sent out 5 to people who PM'ed me in the order they PM'ed me.

Hopefully they work. I had 10 total and the first one I tried did not work, but the next one I did worked.

I have 3 left so hopefully everyone I sent one to works.
