Seems as it was announced yesterday. I just bought the original's GOTY version a week ago. Though I was enthralled with the demo, I have felt underwhelmed so far. I imagine it will get more entertaining when I get around to the customization and design aspects, or playing with a friend (thus far I've played alone). I also haven't gone too far, only on the King's levels. Perhaps it will get better further in.

I played the GOTY edition as well and I only played the first couple levels and was underwhelmed as well but like you said, the customization is supposed to be where it's at and I haven't touched that yet.

I rented it the first, but was not impressed at all. It's a glorified platform game.. totally not worth $60. I don't see myself getting the second one.

Wow, I thought I was going to be in the minority here by saying I thought the first LBP was boring. I can see the appeal but I guess I'm not the type of person to spend $60 to make my own games.

I've bought the damn game twice, and I still don't like it (bought it when it first game out, sold it, then decided to buy the GOTY to try out some of the new DLC). I mean, some of the levels online are cool and all, but they're nothing special.

I'm not gonna be making the same mistake again, I will not buy LBP2.

We loved the first one. Made for a great party game. Some of my friends that NEVER play video games always are asking to play LBP.

As a hardcore gamer, the game was great.

Except staying up 15 hours straight (little bit of exaggeration...seriously a little bit) in order to Platinum it because the game didn't save correctly.

Can't say it'd hold my attention single player for very long, but in groups it's pretty good fun. It's one of those games that's good at getting non-gamers (ie girlfriends) to try and game with you and actually have a good time.

Ahh so it's a Wii game for the PS3.

lbp shined on the user created levels..

i found it amazing to play the orginal contra levels..

the story mode levels are decent. but you need to check out the user levels.. i never went in to try and create levels. but i enjoyed the game overall..

but given all of this i have no plans on getting the second one.

I'm pretty hyped for this game. LBP1 was fun but it had shortcomings.

From everything I've seen and read about LBP 2, they're addressing all those flaws and adding lots of new stuff.

Play LBP with more than one person was tons of fun...maybe even more so than the New Super Mario Bros. game for Wii. I just wish the platforming mechanics were tighter.

Being able to create your own levels was great, though I never had the patience for it. However, playing other people's creations online was one of the best parts about it.

Now it looks like you'll be able to make many different types of games with LBP 2. This is very exciting.

I can see why the game wouldn't be for everyone, but I find it strange how many people didn't like it here (though it seems most only played by themselves).

how is halo cod and gow overhyped? there are three fantastic games. that lived up to the demands.

No, they aren't. GoW is okay, but the other two suck. Horribly. LBP lived up to the hype- the only thing that was wrong was that there was no create together online mode until very recently.

Oh, and let me add MGS4 to that list.

Hm..Halo, CoD, Gears of War...yep LBP was the largest. 🙄

correct, LBP is a crappy game that was hyped as the next big platformer and it was not a good game w/piss poor controls.

halo, cod, and gears, are all infinitely better than LBP. there really shouldn't even be a comparison.

Besides the fact that Halo, CoD, and GoW all have tighter controls than LBP, they're just stereotypical manly-man FPS games. Also, Modern Warfare 2 was a POS. The maps sucked, the online leveling progression sucked, the perks sucked, the networking and hit detection was absolute shit, etc. It was really a turd of the game, IMO. Talk about extremely overhyped. I was extremely disappointed considering how much I liked MW1 (though the networking was still shit in it).

Of course, most FPS games are pretty unoriginal, manly, etc. Now, I'm not saying I don't enjoy them every so often, but LBP was at least original. Sure, the controls were floaty, but it was nothing my friends and I had any difficulties with. I though it was more fun to play through than the new Mario game, though I can see why people might prefer the latter (and I do love Mario, don't get me wrong). Plus with the whole create/share aspect, it had a lot going for it...and it all worked really well. I don't expect everyone to like it, but I don't quite understand what everyone else is missing from the game that many others got...

I think people are misusing overhyped when they mean overrated.

Tristicus is right that the Halo and Call of Duty games are overhyped (i.e., not that they are bad games that don't live up to the hype, but that they are excessively promoted). You cannot escape the advertising for these games. Having announcements and countdowns for teaser trailers? Beverages cross promoted with the game? That is overhype.

LBP was a gigantic pile of useless software to me. I hate, hate, HATE games that tout their user created content, and actually market that as a selling point. Fucking games need to stand on their OWN. User created content should never, ever be taken into account when trying to build interest for your game, especially if it's full price. ALSO, LBP's DLC method is shit. What's it cost, like $200 to get it all? It's a fucking travesty by video game standards. I don't know how the fuck it has a 95 on metacritic.

Well I seem to be the only person here who thinks the game was great, one of my favorite PS3 games, and that a lot of other PS3 games are generic and overrated.

I have only played it solo and without the custom content, pretty much.

The raves for MGS 4, Uncharted 2, etc., but I haven't even played them past the first couple hours.

That's the thing...the "story" levels were extremely impressive and fun, IMO. With friends, those levels alone could have stood on their own. It was tons of fun.

Having the ability to create levels of that caliber on your own with included tools...now THAT is cool, especially considering how well it worked. Plus everyone could share these levels.

Perhaps marketing focused too much on the creation aspect, but even without them it was a solid, fun game. My only real complaint was floaty controls.

I am stuck on the level with the skulls/skeletons where you have to jump on these platforms across some water. It's like level 5 or something. I just gave up.
