Little Wing

Coulda at least spelled his name right...

Vaughan 🙂

And yeah, it rocks. I can play the intro part of his version too.

Yes, it has been my life's mission to play this on guitar.

I have all but 2 parts down...still working on it

I LOVE playing this song, so relaxing

Me too. Wish I could play the rest though 🙁 Great song, definitely better than Hendrix's original.

I have the pleasure of listening to alot of SRV on the radio, and I think I like his cover at least as well as the original.

Go Learn it then:

SRV Guitar Music

Keep trying and you will get most parts, I have been playing since 93 or so, and have 2 parts left to get (2 really fast parts).

I've only been playing about 2 years 🙂 Believe me, I've tried to learn it more than a few times but I can't get anything but the intro 🙁

it does get much more difficult after the first part, much more involved...a good practice piece is yellow ledbetter, pretty much the same music, and a bit easier to learn...teaches the same blues scale used in Little Wing

What is odd?
Hendrix > SRV
He wrote the song
He is almost universally considered a more influential and important guitarist

More influential and important does not equal better.

SRV was a MUCH better musician than Hendrix, though hendrix was amazing himself.

The SRV version is like his other Hendrix covers - too anal, too tidy, too fussy. White people just can't play blues.
Yep, way too tiddy. Exactly why Hendrix and his version is better.

B.B. King disagrees with you. 😀

I appreciate both artists for what they brought to the table, musically. SRV's music was rarely what I'd consider too anal, tidy, or fussy; then again, I have a tough time listening to Phish for more than 10 minutes. 😀

Anyone agree?

Thanks

While I do enjoy SRV's cover of the song, the original is much better. Personally, one of my favorite intrumentals has got to be Metallica's Orion.
