I got in the building, the elevator was there empty and waiting(which is great because I get off on the 2nd last stop), looked like it was gonna be a start to a great day. WRONG... I get in and just as the door is about to close a hand slips in, activates the motion detector and the door opens. The guy gets in and presses the button for the first stop. Everytime time the door is about to close, someone sets off the motion detector and a few more people get in and presses a different button.

When time limit on the door finally activates(the buzzer sounds while door closes signaling your shenanigans with your arm won't work anymore), all(7/10) but 3 buttons have not been pressed, the 2 below my floor and the one above mine. So every stop, only one person gets off which sucked. I breathed a sigh of relief by the time the last person gets off. Well that quickly turned to shit as the elevator stopped on the next floor anyway so one guy can get in and he presses for the next floor. OMFG

It took about 10 mins(prob less) to get to my floor. As the door opens, my boss walks pass, sees me, looks at his watch and tells me he's shocked that I'm a couple mins late because I'm always at least right on time(I live 5 blocks from work so I'm always early or on the dot). Luckily my boss is a cool guy and he was ony joking to me about it but I could only think what if he wasn't.

Damn, you've got it easy. If that's grounds for taking a day off... what does it take you to think you need a vacation? ;)

Little things... but to add to it, I found out afterwards that 2 of my co-workers will be an hour late so I have to pick up their load until then

Come on OP you had to know what the response would be on here... i know what you mean though.

I've had similar things happen where you just wish youd stayd in bed. Leaving early only to hit an accident on the freeway, then still having enough time that you wont be late... til youre stuck in a line of cars waiting to get into the garage and some 'tard forgets their entry badge and just sits at the gate shrugging their shoulders at the people who are stuck behind him and honking. Then you finally make it in and check your email to find that 2 of the 3 managers are "sick"...

1/10 for the rant.

Now if you had gotten stuck in the elevator with 7 other people for 4 hours you might have a good rant about a bad way to start your day.

Still the worst is when your boss randomly shows up when they're scheduled to be out on vacation.

It's nice working on the ground floor. Usually I get one of the 20 or so close parking spaces (less than 75 feet from the building), but today I had to park about 250 feet away since I was 15 minutes late. Still in the grand scheme of things, I got a pretty close space though (I usually start at 6:30, made it in around 6:45am, people who start around 8 usually have to walk about 300-400 feet, and those who come in at 9 get stuck walking 500+ feet from the back end of the parking lots from their car to the door)

Rule of elevators: if you're the first or even second person in, immediately press your floor button and hold down Door Close as hard as you fucking can, even if you see people coming towards the door. Even if you know those people, even if they're your friends or family. Close that fucking door.

That does suck. You have to scramble around looking for your pants, but God only knows where they wound up.

Is not the correct protocol to say you will hold the door (thus hopefully slowing the other people's advance) and then pretending to fumble for the correct button as the door closes? ;)

Shove those fuckers out if they try to thwart the closing of the door. You gotta be like a bouncer at a Hannah Montana concert or something. Unless they're hot chicks trying to get in. Well even then close that fucking door, it's not worth it dude.

I can say with 100% certainty now that I should've taken the day off... the elevator was just a prelude to the shitstorm that was about to happen today. I ended up having to deal with a dozen issues today that we're not responsible for. But screw you all... I'm going home!
