Little sister is looking for a digicam

Anyone have any experience w/ these ones? I have the Canon s500 and love it, so I'd recommend the canon right away, but I have no experience with any of these models. Plus the A510 and 520 are both substantially more money.

any thoughts?

I have an A510 and it is great. I don't know a lot about photography and it makes it easy.

Here's how I see it:

Pros:
It has better battery life than I expected.
Has the focusing assist and can pretty much take photos in the dark.
Very clear optical zoom (the most you'll find for the money AFAIK)
AA batteries = cheaper in the long run

Cons:
Pic processing speed is a little below average if you shoot max resolution all the time.
It is really easy to wiggle and blur pictures when not in a bright environment, but that's not the camera's fault, it's mine.

Bottom line: I got it for $150 and am completely satisfied.

i think the general consensus of AT is that canon rules all. you're not going to find many folks who are olympus or kodak fans.

i'd personally go with canon as well. what about the S2 IS? i don't know how much it compares with the current pricing of the A510 or A520, but it's one sweet camera for a beginner or an intermediate user.

The pricing is as follows (In CDN$)

A510: $249
A520: $299
Kodak CX7530: $279
Olympus (We ruled this one out already $229)

The Kodak is a 5mp, which is a huge bonus in its favour. I can't find any bad reveiws on it, so it seems tempting.

Sister is 22. I have no pics at work, so you're all out of luck.

quit with the fanboy responses. I need to know that the Kodak sucks if I'm going to recommend she gets a Canon and spends $100 more after taxes.

If you want a cheap camera, go with the Kodak. If you want a GOOD camera, go with the Canon. Canons are more expensive b/c they are for the most part better camera than Kodaks. Most of those Kodak digicams are aimed at people that don't know anything about cameras. Canons are good for people that don't know sh!t as well as people who want to learn the basics and then want to get into more advanced stuff
