Hey im currently at CPL and I have this problem w/ my comp. It won't load up, it stays at the "windows is starting up..." screen and just sits there for infinite amount of time.

Kind of annoying, I tried unplugging it for 5-10 minutes. I don't know what to do. Please help!

Thanks!,

Several things 1- Do you have an active NIC that isn't actually connected to anything? If you aren't using it, disable it. 2- Make sure your hard drive cables are all connected properly including the power connections.

Is this a self built system or is it a brand name computer? How old is the system. When was the last time the system booted properly? A little info can make the troubleshooting easier.

I build the computer about 2-3 years back.

Im not familiar to what an NIC is. Also, the computer was working fine until I got a RPC virus, then i kept trying to fix it but it kept restartng before i got it fixed. After several attempts to fix it and restarting it, it just wont load windows anymore.

=[ plz help! i have to go back to CPL in the morning =[

Thank you so much if you know how to help.

Do a Repair Installation. Obviously, the virus or your attempt to fix the virus problem has caused the system not to boot. Place your XP cd in the drive and boot from the cd. When prompted, conducte a Repair Installation. After the installation, run an anti virus proram to make sure virus infection is totally gone. Remember to do a repair installation, do not use the Repair Console, instead continue until XP says that there is an existing XP installtion and suggest either to repair the current installation or do a fresh installation of XP.
