ouch, the curacao pitcher just can't find the strike zone. 3 straight walks, bases loaded and no outs for the hawaiian team. Now they're changing pitchers.

I'll watch anything in high definition. Well, except figure skating.

Little League is like regular baseball.. but you know, with sportsmanship.

Haha

And no 'roids, amirite?
No 'roids, but birth certificate falsification ;)

And cheating on areas of residence and tampering with league districts. Little League baseball might be the only sport on earth even less honest than major league baseball.

I think ESPN did a little piece on Outside the Lines about amateur sports/athletic leagues for young people (13+under) and how we're focusing too much on winning and competition.

They talked to coaches and superstar atheletes about their opinions as well as the league reps. All the ultra-competitive, nothing-but-a-win attitude that is pushed on some kids at a younger and younger age. Most of the stars say they remember the encouraging and fun enviroment they grew up in and it wasn't about the competition when they were that age. They loved playing and learning, some even said they wouldn't have kept playing if they weren't encouraged despite being intially bad.

Me, I think they're absolutely right... too much pressure... it's not fun and games anymore. It's been turned into a business. :(

i think it was cool a few years ago during the championship game where the japanese team beat the US team...both players charged the field and dogpiled each other - it was a cool picture of sportsmanship

I've been watching the series closely.
I coached for Maitland back in the late 80's - got into the Playoffs, but never went this far.

Great games !

But I doubt any of that is the kids. It's all their parents. The kids themselves are good sports.

Too bad I'm not into baseball, because Little League is only a 10 minute drive from my house. :p
