ok here what i ran into. i have a X6800 CPU and here the ram i use.

RAM I USE

i been working on my OC over SO long now and can't seem to get past 3.6 i have done 3.6 stable for about 23 hours and it was still going fine now i ran it again at 3.7 and the most i can go is 5 hours and it stops. Now i have try 3.7 at 1.325 vore and 1.40 than 1.45 and than 1.47 still no luck. Now i set my Vdimm my FSB and MCH to .01 work for about 2 mins and stopped went to .02 with all and got it to run for the 5 hours and stopped now i don't know to much at all about timings and stuff. (And yes i have try a Mult. of 11 and 10 and 9 can't get past 3.6 i'm using water cooling so heat not a issue. But is there a way to change my timing to make it easier to get it higher i manual set the timing to stock which is 5-5-5-12 (i think) But there is where i need the help. Is there a way with the ram i use to change the timing so i can get a better OC. i know much about the timing at all. But i have figure that it must be my RAM that's stopping me here figure that i went back to a 1.325 vcore and left everything at .02 and still runnning 3.6 fine for about 12 hours. If anyone could give me some advice that would e GREAT. Thanks again

you people and your watercooling. its useless on C2D. either get high end air cooling, or go straight to phase change.

be happy with 3.6 @ 1.325V. thats excellent. if you want 4 GHz, pump 1.55-1.6V into it. temps should still be acceptable since you are watercooling. but the life of that cpu wont be too long running with 1.5V+ at temperatures above ambient. But you will probably upgrade before it dies on you.

aright, first off, 3.6 is not a bad OC esp on that vcore. plan and simple, if you want more speed, you need more vcore. i'm running 3.59 on my 6600 with 1.55 vcore. really the only voltages you need to worry about are SSP, vdimm and cpu voltage. your ram isn't the prob either. also, the 965 chipset isn't as good of an overclocker as the 975 or even the 680i. with watercooling, your not going to kill your cpu any time soon with 1.5+ vcore. being that you blew 1G on your cpu, going over 1.6 vcore might not be the best idea as you probly want to keep that cpu for a long time, i would ;). you mentioned that you hit 3.6 with multiplyers of 11, 10 and 9. if i were you i would set the multi at 9 take your cpu to 3.6 giving you a really good FSB speed and call it a sucessful 1337 OC :D if you can get 3.6 with an even lower cpu multi that would be even better. hope this helps, let me know if i can help more.

Ok i have tried a muilt of 8 and try a 450 FSB but that was a no go. Right now i'm going to retire this thing at 1.40 vcore at 3.6 with a 9 muilt. and the VDIMM FSB and MCH all is at stock right now. If it passes this i think i'll be happy with. Also on a side note i use Water Cooling because i bought a Ultra 120 and use that and when i hit 3.3 my temps were at about 66 thats was way to high for my taste. i went to water cooling and i'm at 3.6 right now and my temps are at 48 or 49 or so . Much happy with those numbers. Thanks for all your help i'll keep you posted on the Results.
