Well, OE just stoped working normally all of a sudden. it now takes 6x longer to start or check email. I uninstalled and then reinstalled it, but to no avail.
Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Pyro,

There are probably a good dozen possibilities, but this one sneaks up on quite a few people. Open OE, go to Tools | Options | Maintenance. Make sure that "Compact messages in background" is UNchecked. On some machines this seems to hardly make any difference, on others it really causes OE to drag. It's enabled by default at install time.

Hope you find a solution.

Regards,
Jim

OE is part of MSIE . . . you can install MSIE 5.5 as an upgrade using the latest AOL 6.0 CD (the onw with 700 free hours.) In the AOLTECH folder is MSIE5.5 with its own setup. You don't have to do the big download or even diddle with the rest of AOL.

I use OE 5.5 to send mail and Eudora Pro 5.X to receive mail. That is the best of both worlds on a split screen.

Reasons . . . Eudora still can't wrap text around an embedded photo or graphic . . . that sucks. Eudora can't create awesome stationery complete with embedded music or sound.

Eudora has a better mail management system and is less vulnerable to virii and gusanos. It displays all HTML mail perfectly . . . it just can't write it worth sickum.
