Little help deciding which GeForce 2 Pro to buy

Went to newegg.com today, and so far have came down to two cards.

Leadtek Winfast Geforce 2 Pro 32MB 5.5ns DDR RAM, $132 free shipping

MSI StarForce 831, GeForce2 Pro, 64MB 5.5ns DDR RAM, $142 + $10 shipping, no stock.

Both of them seems to have TV-Out and identical specs, except for the RAM, should I wait for the MSI to be in stock? Anyone know how long this normally takes? I haven't had much experiences with MSI, so some comments on them and for leadtek as well would be nice.

Well, I just bought a MSI GeForce 2 Pro, and it rocks! (at least compared to my old GeForce sdr). I have had no trouble with any MSI-products so I guess I'll recommend that card, the 32 Mb more ram isn't so important today but it might be usefull later (and it isn't that much more costly), plus the card is nicely overclockable.

Psssst...
I'll let you in on a secret!

Here is how you choose ANY nVidia card, over another nVidia card.

They are almost all manufactured directly from a reference sample nVidia gives them.
From there, most ocmpanies make an exact replica, cuztomize drivers, maybe a few MINOR details here and there.. add video out.. or not, WHATEVER.

LOOK FOR:

Whichever card has the HIGHEST core speed and memory speeds (specs are on their site, or at the store on the box) and is cheapest, buy it.

Sometimes a manufacturer will slightly overclock the core or the mem, or use a lower ns RAM, and often the price isn't much more. Look for these boards.

I say buy the cheapest. Right now that MSI is the cheapest and it's reportedly 5ns ram, not 5.5ns like the description says. I have one that's at 5ns and it's great. There is also reports that the leadtek 32mb is 5ns as well.

I don't know any manufacturers that clock a PRO higher than 200/400 ...

Yeah,I tried the GeForce2 Pro 64MB -5.0ans DDR and it works perfectly.Able to generate up to 385mhz max. It's the Tornado Inno 3d and u guys can check it out at www.pricewatch.com.It retails 169 if I m not wrong.😉

I'm going over this as well. Just posted it too, then saw this! 🙂

If you decide to get the MSI, AccessMicro has it in stock. UPS 2nd Day shipping brings it to the same price as Newegg with FedEx Saver.

I'll get the MSI if you do 😀

How did you know the MSI won't be in at newegg.com till 7/2/2001?

Also, on Access Micro's site, the product says "DVD TV-OUT", what does that mean? I thought the Starforce 831 has a monitor and a S-Video TV-Out, what's a "DVD TV-OUT"?

<< How did you know the MSI won't be in at newegg.com till 7/2/2001? >>

It says so on their site.

I just found a $10 coupon for AccessMicro!😀 Is it worth $10 to get the MSI over the Leadtek?

BTW, I dunno what DVD TV-Out means. Probably just stating that you can use it to output DVDs onto a TV; that's my guess.😕

edit It's not saying "DVD TV-Out" it's saying "DVD" "TV-Out" listing it as different features.

The problem is, I'm not in the US, I have a friend in US who I could ship to, but need a site that accepts international credit cards...newegg.com doesn't.

Still sorting the shipping and things out, just that when entering the customer details in the AccessMicro's order form, it doesn't have a space to enter my country, and I don't know what to select for State. They haven't reply back my email yet.

They ran out of stock by the way...was available yesterday, but now it says "Ship in 7-10 days"
