Mazda 6s Steel Grey with Black Interior fully loaded.

SIDE AIR BAGS & SIDE AIR CURTAINS
5-SPEED SPORT AT
ULEV EMISSIONS EQUIPMENT
LEATHER SEAT UPHOLSTERY
POWER MOONROOF
ALARM SHOCK SENSOR UPGRADE
COMFORT PACKAGE
SPORT PACKAGE
BOSE AUDIO PACKAGE

Invoice: $24,228.00
MSRP: $26,625.00

Car: $23,928
Tax: $1,435.68
Dealer doc fee $189.90 (Figured I'd let them earn a little bit since I was already getting it under invoice, want to build good relations with the dealer you know?)
Registration& DMV $78.50
Total: $25,632.08 out the door

Also getting $40 back (cash dividend from CC).
So grand total is $25,592.08

First time I ever haggled for a car on my own, how'd I do guys? Rossman thanks for the tips... did I make you proud or did I mess up somewhere? Before anyone makes a comment and shoots my bargaining skills down, I was pretty pleased with getting it at under invoice considering the average AT is going for $300-$500 over invoice and the manual is going for $1,000 over invoice if not the MSRP (that is if someone here tells me otherwise =T). Steel grey seems to be a popular color too, got the car pretty much right off the truck, only had 4 miles on it. Flame on... :D

Did you finance through the dealer or bring your own money? If the former, they probably had room to play with on the 'backend'. But either way it's a good deal if you get it below KBB/Edmunds invoice.

Don't forget to add Alarm and Warrantly... two areas where dealers DO NOT lose money.

I woulda haggled 'em down a bit.

Dealer Invoice price INCLUDES dealer money making... the dealer does not lose money if they let it go for less than Invoice.

My parents and I went in there to get a Mazda MPV for my dad. I was armed with an "S-PLAN" discounted price. Problem was that it's a set price and a couple days of haggling did us no good. The price came out to a few hundred above invoice. They really stuck it to my inexperienced @$$ since I thought invoice is $0 profit for them... so I believed them and finally let it go.

I see all you people come out below invoice by haggling like a typical consumer would. And everyone confirms invoice is still profit for the dealer.

What crap the "S-plan" discount is.

Using the S-Plan, the above car with the options you mentioned comes out to $23,206. I say you still did pretty well. :)

Yeah, but it has a Sport Package, which drives the car up. The price for this is around $25K on Carsdirect without tax/title/reg.

So, do the sales people still make any comission money if it sells below invoice? (they may get credit for selling a car, or contribute to a bouns, but do they get some cut of the deal)?

I know the dealer still does with the varying 'holdback' amounts.
