little black diamond on first sheet

Using an iMac with os x 10.3.3 (I think) when trying to print to a Kyocera Mita fs 1010, the first page of output is completely blank, except for a small black diamond in the upper left corner of the page. I have tried new drivers, but still this persists. Has anyone had this problem, and managed to solve it? It is infuriatingly persistent.
