Little bit of help for new HSF for a p4c overclock!!!

I have an alpha 8942t w/ an 80mm Ys-Tech adjustable fan that at high ofr 3800rpm has 48.5cfm.....Right now my p4 2.4@3.24ghz w/ 1.61 gets 37-39c idle and loads at 49c....

I am moving to a P4c 2.6@3.5ghz (aiming for with a max voltage of 1.65v)......w/ HT on

The question is do you think the alpha can cut it???

If not I am looking at these items:

heatsinks:

1)Thermalright SLK-947U (~$38@newegg)
Fitted for 92mm fan
a) VANTEC's ThermoFlow TF9225. 58.5cfm (3100rpm) Temperature Control Sensor Adjust 92mm
(~11+5.00@newegg)

2) Zalman CNPS7000-Cu Pure Copper CPU Cooler for AMD XP Socket 462 & 754 and Intel Socket
478. (~42.00+6.00@newegg). Has 92mm fan unsure on rpm and cfm at normal mode.

Do you like these??? Do you think my current cooper core alpha can do as good of a job??? Can I get a 80mm to 92mm adapter and just upgrade the fan???

As I often do, I'll skip through all of your post except the two lines that I want to talk about:
I have a Zalman 7000Cu.... Go for the AlCU, less weight, less money, exact same cooling qualities. Maybe even looks a little better depending on your tastes\window.

SVC.com has the Thermalright 900(a) for only $19.95, (thru Oct.27, with coupon code).. I'd recommend a 92 mm fan (as opposed to 80 mm), for the same cooling effect with less sound noise. Further discussion (and coupon code) here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=1158147

Edit: The Thermalright 900(a) seems to be only for Athlon CPU's. The 900(u) for P4's is not sale priced.

Your Alpha should be more than enough for your new cpu/ocing with that high speed fan. If you want quieter, but same cooling, then something like the Swifty or Thermalrights with a 92mm fan would be better. Getting an SP-94 soon, so I may have an SLK 900U for sale in the near future. 🙂

Alpha 8942 is definatly good enough. I had the Alpha 8045 (Socket A version), and it worked great.

IMO, doesn't need an upgrade... But if for some reason you want to waste some money, go for an Thermalright SLK-947...
