Litescribe question

RU482

Lifer
If I get a DVD burner that does lightscribe, is it possible to do a color logo on the disk?

Do the burners typically come with software that allows you to create your own logo for the disc?

no - lightscribe is currently monochrome, but supposedly you can eventually get different color disc and heard some rumors about multi-color

the ones I have did have software to design the label. If you wanted a logo you would have to import it in as a file

x2 stevf's reply.

IMO, Lightscribe is overrated. Sure; it's a nifty little gadget. But for a real label, you're better off with real labels, a label stomper (to put the label on the CD) and a nice program that does the printing complete w/pics/text/etc.

I was at an event recently and saw a printer which could print directly onto the disk
The guy told me he found it for like $100 at sams club

The labels looked damn close to professionally printed discs

i have LiteScribe and it is LG.

It did come with TEXT creating software (you know...like putting: "~*~*~Redly1's vacation pictures!~*~*~")

but if you want logo, you have to get a separate software.
actually Nero and Roxio does it, but if you don't have them, you need to buy the software (as far as i know, there is no free software to do this. there is free trial, but no 100% free app)

Agree generally with Nacelle. Labels are pretty, but I have had to replace labaled disks for clients who do not have good temperature controlled environments. The glue bled through and ruined the disks. LS results replaced them, and have not had a comlaint since. "Cool"is not the criterion for me - "Professional" is.

Down the road, there will be color LS. It is being worked on.

And, if you want to invest in a specialized printer, there are printable blank disks that do look professionally done - but it takes a special printer.

I agree with Nacelle and corkyg

nothing feels better than taking out your HP laptop in the middle of nowhere in poor down village in Russia, and burning a professional disk with images of people you photographed, and then light scribing the logo or their pictures ONTO the disk.

great feeling.
LightScribe is especially awesome fopr laptops, where you cant really carry anything else like printer lol.
light scribe owns for mobile professional photographers/designers
