LiteOn, Toshiba, or Pioneer

These are the three DVD drives that I was choosing between when I had to make the decision. I went with the Toshiba drive. However, each drive is good for a different kind of person. The Lite-On is the cheapest, but it is still high quality. The Toshiba drive is really quiet and has good seek times. The Pioneer slot load drive has slot loading capabilities. Whichever is more important to you...

I was gonna get the LiteOn, but instead i got an NEC 48x16x one, cos it was a little cheaper where I got mine from...god this thing is good! It's quiet during a DVD movie, but even at full speed it doesn't sound like a harrier taking off.

And the DAE and VOB extraction is AMAZING! I can get up to 40x DAE (28x average for a full CD) and about 14x DVD.

This drive is amazing! I thought my LiteOn 40x12x48x CDRW drive was good at DAE (about 18x average) but this NEC drive just blows it away!

Also, I have one CD that the LiteOn CDRW would drop to 0.3x to read with Exact Audio Copy, this NEC drive did it at 8x! :Q

Just to confuse you some more in your decision 😉

Confused

The Lite-On is a great drive, but it's EXTREMELY loud when it rotates at full seek. Both the Pioneer and Toshiba are great drives as well, and quieter.

I just got the LiteOn myself because it was the cheapest.

i have all 3 drives, i like the pioneer the most. just because of the slot loading and its also an ata66 drive. super fast.

I have the liteon dvd drive and the only complaint is it is extremely loud like the one person said. It is only loud during full seek time. Other than that it is real quiet when i watch dvds, so it aint bad at all. Also it was cheap too.

I have two of the Toshibas, they rock🙂

I guess the general concensus of these responses it just.. get whichever you want, they are all great drives🙂
