Okay, on my dads computer he all of a sudden went to put in a cd and wasn't able to play it. He tried doing a system restore back to before he had installed easy cd creator 5 and that didn't help
i went in and tried what i had seen posted about reinstalling the nVidia drivers, but that didn't work either

i also did the registry edit and deleted the stuff that microsoft told me to get rid of also to no avail

if anyone could help me with this that would be great

ohh btw, i had orignially had a different cdrw in there, a LTR-522465 SCSI, which was also an ide drive, that one stopped working randomly so i had him purchase the 5238S

any help is appreciated

The Nvidia drivers probably emulate SCSI, try installing the latest drivers from Nvidia or just use the generic Microsoft IDE drivers.

WobbleWobble: not sure on what motherboard, but i know that it isn't using a seperate RAID controller
MDE: where can i get the generic microsoft IDE drivers?

uninstall the nvidia sw ones, remove thru devmanager your ide channel the problem drive(s) are on and upon reboot ..system will do a redetect of hardware and at that time the ms ones can be used..
