LiteOn SATA DVD drives

Apparently, LiteOn DVD drive (16x), Model # SH-16A7S-06 has been replaced by LiteOn DVD drive (20x), Model # LH-20A1S, see them here and here.

Can anyone tell me if the 20x is identical to the 16x except faster? If one is replacing the other, I don't understand why one is an "SH" model - and the other is an "LH" model.....

They both say they are SATA drives......... (which is what I want).

Looks like no Nero with the 20x version...not sure if that big laundry list of "features" really matters all that much

Yes - I pretty much had compared the two - but being a "non-tech" person, I wasn't sure if these really were comparable.

I guess the lower price reflects the "no Nero" - but it doesn't matter to me, I already have Nero.

So - does that mean they are the same drive except one is faster?

Well...I don't know that the LH is necessarily the successor to the SH. They look pracitcally identical, and have the same speeds (except for the 16x vs 20x), but without talking to Lite-On, I don't know that we could confirm either way.

Question though...why does it matter? If you want the included Nero, get the 16x, if you want the absolute fastest, get the 20x.

If you look at the customer reviews, someone makes mention of the included Nero does not
install under Vista, so it appears it does include it. I can't speak for the 20x model, but I do
have the 16X model and it works very well.

That's my problem! Apparently, the 16X has been discontinued (out of stock everywhere - and reviews on this one are excellent). A vendor wants to substitute the 20x - reviews at NewEgg aren't as good for this drive.

What to do??

Buy the 20x?
