Wll, if you had read what you wrote, you would have seen that the price is only quoted for the "+" drive. Why would digitimes do that, if "±" is being released as well?

I want the plus format myself cause my DVD player supports and it's a better format by a nudge. Also M$ is going to support it.

Media prices are about the same now between the plus and minus so there's really no reason not to go with plus.

here is another link to a NEC DVDRW which supports both + and - formats, I wonder if it's a rebadged Liteon.

NEC 1300

It's in swedish but you can clearly make out from the specs that it suppports both formats.

It most likely will be a dual format drive as those are becoming even more common.

As owner of a 300i, I am watching cdfreaks closely as they are investigating if the HP 300i is a dual format drive in disguise. http://www.cdfreaks.com/news2.php3?ID=6746

NEC makes their own, in fact the HP 300i is a rebadged NEC.

+/- drives are great ways :D

This way I don't have to wait aeon years before dvd format finalised and settle down to one single format

Low yield rates for these key components, however, have caused some Taiwan-based drive makers to remain doubtful as to whether supply of key components will indeed be sufficient in the second quarter.
D'oh! Low yields = low volumes = no big price drops :(

Why don't they just settle on a damn format already. All these companies fighting to see who will own the rights to the technology and who will make money off licensing. It's stupid. Why don't they all team up and come up with one technology so that they all own it.

When will higher speeds come out? Its been at 4x write speed to DVD's for some time now. If I remember correctly CDRW drives as well took some time after the 4x mark.
