I'm still waiting for a DVD drive that does it all: DVD+R/RW @ up to 4x, DVD-R/RW @ up to 4x, DVD reads at 16x, CDR(W) writes at at least 24x. This drive doesn't look bad, but at twice the price of single format drives, it's not too appealing to me...

Another one to consider is the Optorite DD0203 dual format DVD burner that uses Sanyo chip and also has HD Burn technology to burn 1.4GB on a regular 700MB CD-R (no special CD-R needed like the old Sony CRX-200) and supposedly DVD players can read it with a firmware upgrade, LiteOn is said to support this too.) It's around $290 and available at a couple shops online. Optorite is a division of Accesstek.

I hope Lite-on will introduce their *OWN* DVD RW soon. Not Sony's rebadge. 401D and 401S (those supposed to be less than 200 bucks!)
