In this thread the title needs changing - BM only, double rebates print out.
I just got mine at Springfield, VA - they had about 20 or 30 stacked for $100. No mention of rebate The clerk was a little surprised to see 2 rebates totalling $60 print out.
Note that this varies from store to store apparently.

Hmmm..I called my closest CC - 30' away and asked if they had some LDW411S in stock.

Said they had 3 left, at $149.99!!! (before the $60 rebate) That only brings it down to $90. Not hot for me, I guess. I wonder if there's any chance it could be marked down on the shelf, but not in their system? I just don't want to drive out there for nothing...

I've got at least 4 Circuit City locations in the immediate area (NoVA, like the first poster). The closest one to my office has the $100 - $60MIR price, but is out of stock. The next closest (between 5 to 10 miles away) has a ton of them at $130 - $60MIR. They couldn't figure out why the first store has it for $100 (before the madness). They best they could figure is a price match with a local competitor. Of course, if store A matches a competitor's price, shouldn't store B within 10 miles also match that price? Hmmm.

Anyway, I'll visit at least one of the remaining stores here in the area in hopes of exercising my holiday gift card. :)

I just got back from a local CC. $129.99 out the door with $60 in MIR :( I tried to pricematch to Best Buy that had it for $99.99 out the door, but no dice.

Strange. Seems to be regional, or possibly an experiment by CC to see just how many of us they can get to scurry from store to store!! ;)

My local ad has it for $149.99, with a $30mir and a $20mir, for $99.99 final price. :(

Like I said YMMV.
Unfortunately I did not have my reading glasses on, they had 1 LiteOn model on the shelf marked $145 w/ rebate to $99.
The pile of ones I picked from were marked the old $99.95 WITH NO MENTION OF REBATE. I had to go through the entire process of checking out before the rebates printed out before I could be sure I was getting $60 off.

I checked both CC near me and they are selling the ones manufacture Sept and Oct 2003 which are 411S. Manufacture date of December 2003 even without the "8" in the 6th serial number=451S. They are available in some BB stores, however no rebate. Someone can try to PM BB to CC.

Picked one of these up last night for $39.99 after MIR's from the store on North Ave. in Chicago. They had ~20-30 of them sitting on the endcap display.

I was talking to the sales guy about the deal, and he said when it first went up they all assumed it was a pricing mistake and would be taken down. But he said they found out it was legit and that they were one of a handful of stores that had it at that price. The store was pretty dead last night, so they should still have some sitting out.

I had planned on waiting for an 8x drive, but at $40 it's hard to say no.

My store in Madison, TN has about 20 of these, but the tag is marked $149.99 - $30 - $30. I had a cashier up front scan one to make sure. I don't understand why they would only have the lower price at certain stores? Has anyone else, besides the one person in the other thread, gotten the $100 price by showing a receipt from another location?

Anyone want to pick one up for me at the $40+T price? I've got some sealed HDD's and such we could work a trade on.

Like I started the thread with - They had a stack on the floor marked 99.95. No marking about rebates or anything - Big-Ass hand lettered print $99.95. This price had been confirmed at two stores in Virginia. Then the register prints out two rebates, each $30..
This is similar to when they messed up on the Western Digital 120Gb hard drive early this year, which I ended up getting for $10+tx after 3 rebates.
CC seems to be doing some pain medicine, some stores will mark an item down ($150 drive to $100), forget they marked it down, offer a mfr rebate which is short term, and then a CC rebate. Then all of a sudden somebody wakes up after seeing the chatter here and posts a similar but more expensive bargain on their web site.
Mine is sitting next to the computer awaiting install.
So I've gotten a DVD dual writer and a 120Gb HD from them for $50 +tx.
/edit - I'll look back on this in a few years and wonder why I paid so much!!
All to go in my $365 Gateway Duall server.

Same here in stores in the Minneapolis, MN area (Minnetonka location in particular). I just started to mention that the price on their web site was $20 less and before I could finish my sentence, two other CSR's chimed in and told my cashier to knock $20 off the price. It sounded as though it had happened (many times) before. Maybe you just need to mention this. (?)

<snip> (?)

No - it's the management - for instance at the Springfield, VA store. My friend's son worked there - good kid, smart, affalable, honest, made a hell of a lot on commission, moved a lot of goods. He was getting to the point they were going to have to raise his salary.
The management decided to cut costs - so they let go the several really technology aware people like him and hired a bunch of McDonald's rejects that can't spell DVD, let alone explain the difference between formats.
When you hire the low bidder, be prepared for the low quality.
