Liteon DVD-ROM drive sounds weird

Just got my Liteon 16X DVD-ROM drive from NewEgg(retail boxed) and I noticed something weird. When I shake the drive, it sounds as if there's sand inside or something. Is this normal? I don't think so, but I can't test it yet coz the rest of my parts haven't arrived.

I got the same Lite-on drive (16x DVD-ROM, model 166S) from NE about 18 months ago, but didn't notice any sounds like that. Can you test the drive in another system?

Well, mine's a SOHD-167T so it's slightly different. I could try it on my housemate's computer(which I'm using now), but it's just more of a hassle. Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience. I guess I'd try it later. It would suck to have a DOA item from Newegg, retail boxed too.
