Liteon 52X and Adaptec Easy CD Creator question

Nero works fine with my Liteon CD Rewriter but my Easy CD Creator can't use the Liteon as a recorder? I am using Easy CD Creator V4.5. Do I really have to upgrade to Version 5 before it will work with Liteon 52X (that's what some websites say). Is there not something I can upgrade without having to shell up $$ to buy Easy CD Creator 5? Thanks!
