I just did this deal 2 days ago, should get my burner tomorrow.

I found that link to nexthardwareshop.com also from pricegrabber.com. I couldn't find it anywhere cheaper to price match. I just paid with my AMEX and will price match down :D

Resellerratings.com review: 4.2/7.0

AMEX + Newegg = Good deal always :D

seeing i only have stacks of 16x media, there is no need for me to uprade to this, as it wont let me burn at 32x anyway.

wish my 16x Cendyne (TEAC) hadn't just died.... anyone ever had to RMA one before?

The media speed usually doesn't matter for liteon burners...my 24x liteon reads 16x cdrs fine.

Actually when I was reading a review of this burner, I saw that the Imation 16x were actually able to be burned at 32x. They were the only cds rated at 16x that could burn consistently that high. Just about all the 24x could burn that high too except for the CompUSA branded ones... I will see if I can find that article ... just read it about 3 days ago.

when he said he had stacks of 16x, he meant that it was pointless seeing that he could not achieve 32x burning speeds with that media...he'd have to start all over again.

If you were holding back...... the link now displays the drive at 84 dollars. You cannot resist. You cannot resist, unless of course you already bought it.

bah! resist I will! I already own 2 lite on CD-RW drives...lol 12X and 16X...

I can hold out...the speed difference between a 16X and a 32X is pretty marginal since they ramp up speed as it burns so I really don't mind waiting for the new 3xspeed/data drives...mmm...

I had a big stack of some of those cheap as crap PNY 16X discs when I got the 32X LiteOn the other day. Haven't had a single problem buring those at 32X. Even my finicky disc changer in the living room read them fine.

Your right about the CompUSA discs. I have a stack of their gold 16X discs, and Nero will only let me burn those at 24X.

Keep in mind the 40x12x48 is a speedier unit for about $20 more.

That said, I doubt the 24x is "too slow", and these can be found for next to nothing now. Just something to keep in mind. Do you really need to save 45 seconds a burn? :D
