LiteOn 24X CDRW under win98 Problems..

I just installed a new LiteOn Writer 24X,on a win98 machine that I use for such tasks. However when I installed it Windows detects it as a CDROM.. doesnt say CDRW... I tried to update the drivers but there seems to be no drivers in win98 that call it a Writer. When I access Easy CD 5 it says no Writer Available it worked fine wih the HP I took out! Is the driver supposed to be something different? Should it show up as a CDRW in Device Manager?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.....

Two things..

1. Update to the lates version of the EZ CD 5, the earlier versions didn't recognize the Lite-On 24X.

2. Update your firmware for the Lite-On 24X.

The device manger will usually show the CDRW as a "CD-Rom"...this is fine. The important thing is to get your burner recognized by the burning software.

Thanks Guys...

Installed the latest version of Easy CD and upgraded the bios. Now the program ses the drive. Have not run the ForceAspi yet.

I do have another problem now with Easy CD and the Drive, in CD Copy it only shows 8x as the write speed, in Easy CD Creator it shows upto 16X write. Whats up with that? Shouldnt I be able to select 24X with both of those programs?
