I just bought the 24102B LiteOn and put it on my Abit KG7 (non-RAID, non-lite) and I've got problems. The worst is that whenever I burn something in Nero, it completes to 100%, but then Nero freezes, and the drive keeps spinning with the access green light blinking. I can't use task manager to quit the program, it says that it's being debugged and can't be shut down. I have to restart the computer everytime.
Also, the drive only accepts blank discs, it ejects anything else. At first, I had the drive as a slave on the secondary IDE channel with a Creative Encore DVD drive. I switched it to being master by itself on this channel, moving the dvd to slave with my hd. The problem is still the same.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, or is it fixable? Should I just send this drive back? Thanks for any info!

Turn off autoinsert notification. Test if this is your problem by putting in a non-blank cd and holding SHIFT while it loads.

One other thing...I believe Nero almost works because you can put in a blank, and autoinsert does not matter with a blank. Then, after it writes, Nero tries to read it and dies. As I said, to see if this is your problem, put in a music cd and hold shift (or data cd). Then open explorer...I bet it is OK. If it is, go to device manager and turn off autoinsert.

Well I really appreciate the tip. I tried to load a CD while holding down shift, but no go. The drive still blinks the access light and spits out the CD 20 seconds or so later. I feel an RMA coming on...

Well, it may be worth checking DMA and no inser notification. I can look at my exact device manager settings as soon as I get off this XP system. I assume you are on win9x.

Well the drive is definitely in DMA mode in device manager. Actually I'm running Win2k, not 9x. I read another thread about weird problems people are having with this drive and an Abit mobo. I think I may just be another victim of this, and there's no way to really fix it. I seriously doubt there's anything wrong with the drive. Thanks for the help!

Sorry to hear it. This drive works very well with my win98se AND my XP machine when I tested it there. In fact, I had NO problems in XP...it was win98 where I had the problems you are having.

P.S. In Win98SE, I have Disconnect and DMA checked in device manager...nothing else.
