LiteOn 24102b Crashing

Hi,

I installed the LiteOn 24102b yesterday. I was able to burn an audio
CD at 24x, but I haven't been able to burn a video or data cd since.
After burning the audio cd, I tried burning a video cd at 24x. The
blue screen of death came up, and I had to reboot. Even with
burnproof on, it still made a coaster. Today I tried burning a data
CD at 16x. Twice with burnproof on, and once with it off. The first
time, blue screen and had to reboot. Second time, black screen and
had to reboot. Third time with burnproof off, blue screen and had to
reboot. 3 more coasters.

I then tried a simulate burn at 8x, again blue screen and had to
reboot. At least this time I saved a CD.

This is with Nero 5.5.3, which came bundled.

Running WinME on:
AMD Athlon 900
EPoX EP-8KTA2
512MB Micron PC-133

Hmmmm... interesting. I just installed my 24x LiteOn. I've tested it on burning audio cd's, but I haven't tried data cd's yet. After hearing your plight, I hope mine isn't the same way.:Q

Sounds like a typical VIA issue.

Not much you can do. Get the latest BIOS, apply the latest 4-in-1 "fixes", make sure the settings are correct... and pray.

You may need to utilize an add-in controller.

Hey!!!! Don't go jinxing my brand new Lite-On 24102B retail!!!

Check your Drive letter in control panel, I had the same problem after installing mine in an Abit KR7A Raid board.
For some reason it knocked out my drive letter in the start and end Tab, after resetting the proper start and end Tab everything was fine.
