I just installed a Liteon 16x Dvd player, and even before I installed any drivers or software for it, the floppy was going crazy as soon as windows loads up. All the cables are plugged in right for the DVD and floppy. If the floppy is unlpugged, then the DVD runs just fine, and plays DVD's just fine. As soon as I plug in the floppy and load windows, the system slows to a crawl and continually checks the floppy. I tried a brand new teac floppy and the same thing.

My DVD and floppy? I think you have to. I must be misunderstanding your question. You can't switch a floppy and a DVD on the same cable...

<< You are putting them on diff cables, I hope? >>

IDE and normal floppy cables have different amount of wires. :p

Try to see if there's anything you set wrong in the BIOS. What version of windows are you using? ? Disable the bootup floppy seek??

Yup... Everything to do with floppy (boot up, boot floppy seek, boot floppy swap) is all disabled. This might help:
Now, if I unplugg the DVD, it still does it. Now I'm starting to think it's a software issue. ... I'll try a few things, and let you know about it.

This problem started when I installed my DVD. However, I'm starting to think it a coincidence. I'm reformatting, as I am sure now that it is a software issue. I'm due for a reformat anyway. Thanks for your desire to help me, though. I'll let you all know what happens. I'll reformat this weekend sometime, as the problem disappears when I disable and unplug my floppy. Again, this happens with any floppy that I use. new or used.

Are you sure you didn't unplug your floppy in order to plug in your DVD drive and then plug the floppy cable back in the wrong way around? Plugging the floppy cable in the wrong way definitely makes it access the drive constantly as you described - I know because I have done it several times!
