liteon 16x burner problem

hey everyone

My liteone 16x burner wont copy audio cds any more 🙁

Im wanting to copy one of mys so i dont have to take the original in the car all the time but everytime I try to copy the cd it gets so far (in Nero 5.5.5.1 win2k sp2) and then goes belly up and gived a failed burn.

This all happens before the burn actually starts. im trying to burn 'on the fly' with the source cd drive and the burner on completely separate ide channels (using a promise ultra 100 card for my hd and burner witht the source drive as master on the primary ide channel on the mobo)

The error I get is;

LTR-16102B
Invalid field in parameter
Could not perform Disc At Once
Burn process failed at 12x (1800 KB/s)


This is weird cos I have copied cds in the past with no problems... I have not had the chance to test wether copying data cds on the fly because Ive run out of cds just now (in the middle of exams) but I know that the burner works for wrinting to a fresh cd from the hd as I backed up some files last week.

any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

well...to see if the problem is with the source drive, try not burning on the fly, with your burner as the source and destination.....if that doesnt help then try copying a different cd...maybe the one you are trying to copy is damaged so that the drive can't read it

I have tried not copying on the fly as well but to no avail.

My exam is finished tomorrow so Ill be able to grab some more cdrs to test with.

bump to work out whats up!

The same CD copied fine on my dads system so it cant be anything to do with copyrighting on the cd. And it also failed to copy another different cd on my system. Not Fair!

ive now tested the drive with some more cds since I had the time to get more cdrs.

It will copy data cds fine, no problems there but it always falls over on audio cds.

In nero I have tried setting it to read sub channel data and that got it a little further, but it couldnt get past the 'writing lead in' stage at all.

Does any one else have any ideas.

The only other thing I could think of is that its an irq conflic or problem since the drive is on the promise controller card...

My 24x did exactly the same thing when I installed it, did a reformat and now it works.
You may want to get it off the promise controller, not recomended.
