Lite-On DVD Combo drive doin' weird things...

K, so today I was asked to help with a Lite On CD-RW/DVD combo. Problem with it, is it will play music, load photos, install, it'll run everything, except for DVDs, and the problem is, it played DVD's fine up until about a week before this problem began, says he.

I uninstalled the drivers, and the PowerDVD it came with, reinstalled it, same problem, checked device manager, said it was working ok, disabled it and re-enabled it anyway, still same problem... opened the case, unplugged it, checked for issues, everything was fine, plugged it back in (It's about a month old, by the way.) same problem, ran windows update, updated PowerDVD, everything...

DivX, Real, WMP, nothing will read a DVD if there's one in.... but it'll do everything else.

I'm stumped, it's simple I'm sure, but I'm totally lost.

Any ideas?
 
That's what I was thinkin'.... $20 for a new one, big deal, huh?

At least I'm not insane, that makes me feel better haha. Thanks, man.
